Vanilla honey tea is a caffeine free, honey sweetened, rooibos tea that is sure to please both guests and children alike.

My sister in law first introduced me to this tea several years ago. It has been a staple at our house ever since. I typically buy the boxes of tea bags in bulk each fall, and that stash makes it through one winter for our family.
My kids love this drink during “tea time” and read aloud, or after playing in the cold. I use it as a “go to” for guests who may not typically like tea, and I haven’t had anybody tell me they don’t like this one yet.
Perfect for Kids
The tea bags are sweet and don’t turn bitter if you steep the tea too long. I often throw a bag or two into the bottom of a travel mug and take this tea on the go without ever removing the bags. The ease of not “messing this one up” is part of why it is perfect for kids. They can make it on their own with just some hot water, milk, and honey. I often have the kids put a bag in the bottom of a mug and get the hot water through our Keurig. So easy! There are times where my kids ask for this drink nearly every day.
Caffeine Free
Since rooibos tea is naturally caffeine free I don’t have to worry about the kids enjoying it. I’m notorious wanting a cup of something hot in the afternoon, so for myself I don’t have to worry about the time of day. A cup in the morning, afternoon, or evening all suit me just fine.
Vanilla Honey Tea Recipe

Ingredients:
- Celestial Rooibos Madagascar Vanilla Tea
- Raw local honey
- Whole milk
Directions:
Heat water to boiling in a tea kettle or by other desired means.
Place a rooibos Madagascar vanilla tea bag in the bottom of a heat safe mug or thermos.
Pour water over tea bag and allow to brew.
The tea bags are sweet and don’t turn bitter if you steep the tea too long.
After the recommended brew time on the box you may remove the tea bag. Often times I just leave it in until I”m finished drinking. Saves on the messy drips and spills that way, because I rarely have “formal” tea with a cup AND saucer. I doubt you do either.
Sweeten with a spoonful of honey (we buy ours from our neighbor….raw and local is always best if you can find it).
Top off the mug with a splash of milk. (This works especially well for cooling the tea down for little ones.)
Make a large batch in a French Press
Most often we make this tea cup by cup, but there are times when a large batch is in order. I place 3-4 tea bags in the bottom of my french press and fill it with the desired amount of hot water. Once the tea is brewed I add the honey and milk and pour each cup right out of the french press carafe.
